Quest International University Perak (QIUP), QNET’s sister company under the QI Group, held its maiden convocation ceremony on 22 November in Ipoh, Malaysia. The ceremony saw the awarding of degrees to twenty one students from the very first intake of the schools of Computer Science and Business Administration. Another 40 students received their certificates for completing their Foundation Studies in Science and Business.
The graduating students stood proud as they received their scrolls from the Chairman of the University Council, Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran who also presented the outstanding scholastic achievement award and inspired the audience with an unforgettable speech.
Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran spoke about how the convocation was a milestone for the university as it reflects the achievements of the students, tutors, lecturers and founders of the university. He also stated that education is and will remain the driving engine for growth and the social development of Malaysia.
“I am delighted to note here that Quest International University Perak in partnership with the State Government of Perak, is recognised today as providing a gold standard education model. The twenty one students who are graduating with their degree have all found employment with reputable companies.” said Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran.
QIUP opened for its first intake in September 2011 with 4 programmes – Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Foundation in Science and Foundation in Business. Today, the University offers more than 26 programmes in Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor and Post Graduate levels.
“We have grown from an initial batch of 98 students in 2011 to where we are today – 1200 students and we are reaching out to many students, especially from the north of Peninsular Malaysia as well as other parts of Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak. We are also living up to our international reputation as we have students from 13 countries enrolled in various courses at QIUP.”
His announcement that Quest International University Perak’s City Campus would soon take shape as part of the QI Edu City Development project was met with loud applause and cheers. The convocation was attended by 400 people made up of QIUP Council members, faculty members, senior state government officials and students as well as their families.
