We’ve listed the top lessons from Dune, starring Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, that every direct seller and entrepreneur needs to find success. Dune is an emotionally charged story of a hero’s journey through dangerous paths to ensure the safety of his family and his people. Based on a SciFi book from Frank Herbert, there are tonnes of leadership and life lessons that will really help you along in your career. Here are our favourite direct selling tips from Dune 2021.
The Only Way Through Fear Is To Face It
Even before Dune was adapted into a movie format, it was most famous for this line said by Lady Jessica, and later, by Paul Atreides – “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.” The biggest takeaway from this is that fear is normal, but we shouldn’t let it have power over us. Instead of running away from it, we need to face it, especially in our direct selling journey.
There’s No Success Without The Right Team
Paul is born to a noble family and is destined for greatness. But even he realises that without the help of his family, his trusted friends, and his new people – the fremen, he will remain unsuccessful. With the help of his team, he is able to fight evil forces that threaten his planet. Direct Selling is the same – you can only do so much by yourself. You need a great team of like-minded people, and you also need mentors, experts, and a support system to find success.
Never Stop Fighting For What You Want
One of the biggest lessons from Dune is given by the Warmaster Gurney Halleck (played by Josh Brolin of the Thanos fame). He prepares Paul for his destiny and also teaches him how to fight. In one such session, Paul isn’t in the mood, and Gurney says, “Mood? What’s mood got to do with it? You fight when the necessity arises, no matter the mood. Now, fight!” As entrepreneurs and direct sellers, the lesson we can take away from this is that if we are waiting for the “right mood”, we will never get anything done. Instead, we need to be disciplined and keep working hard even when we aren’t in the mood. Taking deliberate steps and having a routine will help in the road to success in direct selling.
